One of the most beautiful and tranquil sites in South Korea is Damyang-gun, where there is a huge forest of bamboo. Every May, they hold the special Damyang Bamboo festival, which celebrates the beauty and function of the bamboo plant.
Located in the Jeollanam-do province, the Bamboo Forest is one of the most popular destinations, especially in the spring time!
With a 1,000 year old history, this 2.4 kilometer forest is transformed into an amazing festive destination! There are many different types of activities, from log rafting and water bicycling for the active, cultural activities involving the many different uses of bamboo, and of course, food!

From Yongsan Station (Seoul), take a train to Gwangju (광주).
